Timelapse at 15x speed here. Happy New Year!
Scribbles for the ArtSkills Permanent Parker review.
Drawings to test out the Newpen Ginza Pro brush pens.
Rest of the doodles from the Blick Studio Brush review.
Shiny New Years Hoothoot was really cute. ‘v’ Blick Studio Brush markers are all right.
Hat Wurmple is the best hat mon in the game, don’t @ me.
Have been messing around with all-electric UL and ML teams for a while, but it’s been harder to pin down a GL team because there’s more options. This one’s been doing well in the Holiday Cup though!
Avatar prize for a mini contest at ‘Souls. Avatars on the board are 200×200 so I always think it’s weird seeing them big.
Recent pet portrait commissions for a lovely client.
Bunch of doodles and coloring samples from the ArtSkills double-ended Brush-tip Marker review. I usually only test a few singles of a marker, but it’s nice to have a few more colors to play with sometimes. Limited palette is always a nice exercise in experimentation and compromise. Pink is a decent stand-in for a grey as far as darkening other colors go.
Wanted to doodle a cover for this year’s project since I think this is the closest I’ve ever come to the spirit of the event, despite 17 prior years participating. Didn’t have the energy for color though. I also still don’t really know what any of my characters look like either. I don’t really visualise much when I write…
It’s been so long since I’ve made new characters… that weird inconsistent stage where I’m still trying to figure out what they’re supposed to look like is kinda frustrating. Is this dude’s hair wavy or not? Is it white or blond? How long is it?? Everything is different every time I draw him, but I don’t know which is right.
A bunch of phone/conference call doodles.
Biking is fun.

Historically, October 1st was NaNoWriMo website and forum reset day. This was back when NaNo wasn’t as active in the off season and the site had some ancient infrastructure that required annual purging of data to save on space and bandwidth. These days, NaNo is pretty much active yearround and its technical infrastructure was overhauled a few years ago, so the site no longer requires annual resets.
As such, October 1st isn’t as relevant anymore, but it’s still the day I aim to have these calendars finished by. Happy NaNo prep and panic month! And cheers to the photographers of the stock used in this year’s calendar: Zhen Hu, Trent Erwin, and Aaron Burden.
I didn’t take very many WIP photos for this, but here are some in progress inks and photos of the final. The character was fun, but it’s very obvious I’m here to flower spam, lol.
