Seriously though. <_< Also that is the most awkward fistbump I’ve ever seen, omg.

My Free! mini artbooks arrived way sooner than expected! :D And they look really nice!!

The colors are nice and saturated without going overboard or being too dark. All the interior pages are printed to bleed and nothing got cut off weird. The spine on the wraparound cover is a little jankity, but it isn’t that noticeable. Inside the hardcover, the pages are saddle-stitched, so no glue involved, yaaaay.

I will be shipping out preorders tomorrow! And I still have a few extra copies if anyone wants ‘um! If I have any left over, I’ll also have these at Chibi Chibi Con on the 22nd!

Eehehehe I’m so happy with how these turned out, dang. *__*

Not sure how many of these I’m gonna order. Feel a little iffy because I’ve never ordered books from this company before and I’m unsure of the quality, which is why the original plan was to just get one for myself.

My special talent is making everything depressing. :’D

But a February birthday means that it probably coincided with Rin’s last days in Australia before moving back to Japan for the spring semester, and naturally he spent the day alone looking gloomily over Sydney Harbour because he had no friends overseas. At that point he was resigned to give up on swimming completely, yeah?

If Free! takes place in present day, then the Sydney Olympics were a good while ago, but probably the hoodie belonged to his dad or something (he kept it in good condition okay) anyway because it’d have been waaay too big for him in 2000.

Now just go on and imagine four-year old Rin yelling at a TV with his dad while they watch the Olympics together. :>

And that’s it! Happy New Year!

I’m pretty pleased with Free! Advent Calendar overall. I don’t like every single thing I drew for it, but there are a lot of pieces I’m pretty proud of.

It was a great challenge because a vast majority of what I wanted to draw involved two or more characters, and drawing characters interacting (or honestly, even just standing next to each other) has been a weak point of mine for a long time. Even though a lot of the interaction/proximity ended up being between chibi characters, it was still forcing me to do new things.

I also ended up drawing a lot more backgrounds than usual, even if a lot of them were, again, rather simple. I always queue work for this sketchblog, but the level of finesse for almost all advent pieces was higher than my normal sketches, so keeping up with daily pieces was also a challenge.

So yeah, that was fun. :> Here’s to a new year.

I had wanted to get the first chapter of my band AU fic ready to post by January 1st, so it’d be a neat hand off from one Free! project to another, but it isn’t ready yet. I’ll shoot for the 15th for now, but sooner if I can manage it. It’ll be on FFN and AO3, but I’ll probably still mention updates here.

…Man, what the hell has Free! done to my life. .___.
