NaNoWriMo 2021 cover

Wanted to doodle a cover for this year’s project since I think this is the closest I’ve ever come to the spirit of the event, despite 17 prior years participating. Didn’t have the energy for color though. I also still don’t really know what any of my characters look like either. I don’t really visualise much when I write…

It’s been so long since I’ve made new characters… that weird inconsistent stage where I’m still trying to figure out what they’re supposed to look like is kinda frustrating. Is this dude’s hair wavy or not? Is it white or blond? How long is it?? Everything is different every time I draw him, but I don’t know which is right.

2021 NaNoWriMo Calendar

2021 NaNoWriMo calendar

Happy October!

Historically, October 1st was NaNoWriMo website and forum reset day. This was back when NaNo wasn’t as active in the off season and the site had some ancient infrastructure that required annual purging of data to save on space and bandwidth. These days, NaNo is pretty much active yearround and its technical infrastructure was overhauled a few years ago, so the site no longer requires annual resets.

As such, October 1st isn’t as relevant anymore, but it’s still the day I aim to have these calendars finished by. Happy NaNo prep and panic month! And cheers to the photographers of the stock used in this year’s calendar: Zhen Hu, Trent Erwin, and Aaron Burden.

The October welcoming tradition is to begin thinking about November.

Download ZIP

Includes 50k, 75k, & 100k versions in 3 different screen aspect ratios.

I’ve also finally uploaded previous calendars from 2011+ here. 2015 has the same day/date distribution as 2020, so you could also use that calendar and pretend it’s a different, better year.

2008-2010 are also still available on my dA account, but I didn’t make different word/resolution versions then.

October means November is coming. The day/date distribution this year is the same as 2012, so you can also use that calendar.

Download via deviantART (”download” on right) or Google Drive.

The ZIP download includes
50k, 75k, and 100k versions for all sizes:

3:4 ratio: 1600×1200 (should also fit: 1024×768, 1280×960)
16:9 ratio: 1920×1080 (should also fit: 1600×900, 1366×768, 1280×720)
16:10 ratio: 1680×1050 (should also fit 1280×800, 1440×900)
